A Security Analyst is responsible for maintaining system integrity, monitoring intrusion attempts, securing and potentially engineering firewalls, working within a brief given by the company and securing Information and Databases. A security analyst is also responsible for analysing a range of Information Security processes, improving and implementing them. An example of a Security Analyst's function is testing the current security services and exposing weaknesses, and reporting these weaknesses to relevant parties. A security analyst should have the requisite skills to assess perceived vunerabilities in a network system, and the ability report their findings back to stakeholders.
A Security Analyst is responsible for monitoring, reporting and responding to security incidents whilst ensuring the delivery of security services for all stakeholders involved.
Specific duty expectations of a Security Analyst encompass:
Wide ranging, although documented positions fall within AUD 60,000-100,000 + bonuses + super (Seek.com.au - Cybertrust, 2007)
Security Analysts work on securing some of the worlds biggest banks, public and private companies and Government networks.
Information security specialists utilise industry intelligence to offer individual, pragmatic solutions to customers that align information security risk to organization risk.
