Hi Kate
I have updated the UCspace (http://ucspace.canberra.edu.au/display/Integrity/Home
) with budget information. You can see how much is left on which account.
For Survey preparation
- Look at our paper's section on survey
- Last year's trial survey questions are still available in webCT site
- Look at the reviwer's comments which I have attached in UCSpace
- Look at the evaluation ideas on UCSpace which I stole from Ascilite evaluation scheme
- The implementation recommendations (i.e. learning resource & Plagiarism site) in UCSpace will give you idea of our goals of the project that need to tested. All this should show you the gaps in the previous survey and what needs to be asked this time in online survey. We will only embed the survey in units that participate in the trial.
Ethics application - I have attached my application for ethics on plagiarism survey I ran in 2004 in UCSpace. You should be able to borrow some ideas from there. Our paper has the background info on the project. The grant application is also a source.
Trial implementation manager - this is a project management role.
- Coordinate the units who wants to participate in the trial
- Snowballing approach to invite interested academics now
- In February, sent an email to all staff to participate with a link to the module to attract them
- Organise the AIM Moderator role & create an email address. Moderator will add students to AIM site and send email notification to referring lecturer after successful completion of the quiz.
- In some units, the website might be trialled as learning resource in labs. You might need to co-ordinate this with the lecturer.
Hi Matt: here is something I am following up after our meeting today. Peter Link to Micheles' speech: http://get-tv.canberra.edu.au/nowuc/integrity.mov
(Quicktime 7 player required) Title for the homepage screen: (have this title on the link rather than Michele's face) Academic Integrity at the UniversityofCanberra Dean of Students, Dr Michele Fleming *Text of Speech (*Keep only the first two paragraphs and the last two paragraphs) Hello, I'm Dr Michele Fleming, Dean of Students at the UniversityofCanberra. I'm introducing the education module entitled Understanding Academic Integrity, which has been developed as an online resource to support students at the University.Academic integrity is a fundamental value at the UniversityofCanberra. In fact, it is so important that the university has developed an Academic Integrity Policy. This policy states that "Good scholarship involves building on the work of others but this use must be acknowledged and proper attribution made. Cheating, plagiarism, and falsification of data are dishonest practices which contravene academic values". Students who plagiarise take shortcuts. This means that if you plagiarise you are not developing an important quality that the UniversityofCanberra wants to promote, that is, taking the care and time to properly acknowledge the influence of others in your academic writing.I strongly encourage you to carefully study this education module on Understanding Academic Integrity and practise appropriate referencing in your work as a student at the University and in the years beyond graduation. Have an option for students to either play the video or access the text file
